Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam was born in Rameswaram (Tamil Nadu) on 15 October 1931. APJ Abdul Kalam’s full name is AVUL PAKIR JAINULABDEEN ABDUL KALAM. He was an aerospace scientist and politician. He was also the 11th president of India; he served the nation from the year 2002 to 2007.
His lead education was in physics and aerospace engineering. He graduated in the year 1960 from the Madras institute of technology.
He was also widely known as the missile man of India for his stupendous hard work on the development of ballistic missiles and launch vehicle technology.
He spent his 40 years in science by being a scientist and science administrator at the (ISRO) and (DRDO): Indian space research organization and defense research and development organization.
He was awarded prestigious awards like Bharat ratan which is India’s highest civilian award.
He was born in a Tamil family in Rameswaram.
His father’s name was Jainulabdeen Marakayar was an imam at a mosque and a boat owner in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu. His mother’s name was Ashiamma was a housewife.
His unfortunate demise was on 25 July 2015 at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Shillong, the reason behind his demise was cardiac arrest. At that moment he was giving a speech there when he collapsed and died.
His funeral was held at his hometown Rameswaram and many national-level dignitaries attended his funeral. He was buried according to Islam. It was a proper burial.
His memorial was constructed after his sad demise known as the Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam National Memorial. It was built by the DRDO in Pei Karumba. (Rameswaram).
